No More Excuses Diet Book Review

There are many motivational workout books but they all seem to give you a plan that sometimes fails to meet your daily routines as a mom. I mean lets think about it is not really realistic that many of us aren't going to stick to a detailed diet. Like many others I'm sure, I am always looking for motivation to keep me going on my weight loss journey. Maria Kang has been a great inspiration for a lot of mothers out there. she is a mom to three little boys and still managed to look great. I feel that as a mother she is very relatable. She gives us in insight and lets us know that looking great is not always the easiest but it is possible. With dedication and hard work there is no room for excuses. She gives you a clear plan for you to follow. she has worked with women for years helping them on their journey as well. She talks you through a process where it will help you. It is true when she says we all have excuses but it is what you choose to do that counts.

She provides you with great exercises that are simple and quick with results. She takes the time to explain what you need to do in order to achieve the purpose you are working out for. That is if you are trying to lose, maintain, or tone up. That is if you are looking to loss, maintain weight, or tone. There is no specific meal plan for you to follow instead she shows you how to best balance your diet while still eating your kids left overs and that extra piece of candy or ice cream that most of us tend to grab for.  What are you waiting for and remember No More Excuses

Review: Trilane Retinol + Vitamin C

I love retinol I use it everyday and when I saw the opportunity to review this product I was super excited. I have acne prone skin but with lots of maintenance I've been able to avoid breakouts. Since my acne breakouts stopped, I've been left with many acne scars through out my face. That is when I went for a hunt to find something that would help me clear out my skin much faster and that is when I found retinol. Now for those you who are just finding out about retinol, you may be asking:

What is retinol? well its a high concentrated form of vitamin A, it helps speed up the process of the turnover of cells (dead skin) its to help reduce fine lines, or clear skin. Retinol is a potent antioxidant used to improve skin texture.

what is vitamin c? it is an ascorbic acid that is good for anti aging. It helps give you brighter and healthier complexion.

On to the product now. Trilane is a beauty line designed for the health of your skin. They have a variety of items from eye cream to vitamins. This oil claims to speed the turn over of cells, minimize or unclog pores, reduce fine wrinkles, diminish brown spots, smoothes and evens out to skin texture. I have been using this oil for two weeks now and its great. Now this is an oil so if your worried because you have oily skin, don't be. I have oily skin and it does not make my skin even more oily. I just rub it into my face gently and wait until its all absorbed in and proceed with my regular makeup routine in the mornings. I use this every single day, morning and evening. This oil is a great moisturizer and protects my skin from the drastically changing weather. This oil is not overpowering or to dry on the skin. Since I started using Trilane my skin has felt smoother and I have noticed a slight difference in my complexion. My skin seems to be glowing and my pores seem to be getting smaller. Not to say that with time my skin could improve even more. I would say that this product lives up to its expectations. I have not experienced any irritation I\on my skin or had any complications with it. When you look at the bottle you might think its small but since its an oil you only need about two or three drops depending on how much you need for your face. A little goes a long way. I'm estimating this bottle to last me a few months.  I absolutely love this oil and I am looking to be able to try more products in this line in the near future. 5 Great Bedtime Books to Read With Your Child

  1. Goodnight Gorilla by Peggy Rathmann -is a great picture book with minimal reading. It allows you to make up your own story and little activities. My daughter loves this book, she has us read it almost every night before bedtime.
  2. How many kisses do you want Tonight? by Varsha Bajaj -This is such a lovely book as well as educational. As a busy parent we sometimes don't have a lot of time to sit with our child trough the day to interact and teach them. Its great when you can get two things done at the same time. This book involves numbers and animals which can allow your child to learn and get a great bedtime book
  3. Love You Forever by Robert Munsh - I love this book so much because it reads about a mother that cradles his growing son thru his life. Almost at the end the son does the same to his mom getting old with age and finishing the book it shows him doing the same for his daughter. I think that this is a great book to end the night and let your child go to sleep knowing that his/her own mom will be there for them as in the book. It is a lovely read and a great way to bond with your child before bedtime.
  4. Goodnight Moon by Margret Wise Brown and Clement Hurd - I believe this is a classic. I remember as a child reading this book. Just like goodnight gorilla this is a great book for an older child. You can easily set your child to sleep while saying goodnight to the world around you.
  5. Barn Dance by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault - Now for you who have older children and still love reading time before bed this is a great book. It will set them off on a wild dream about talking and dancing animals. This is about a little boy who cant seem to go to sleep but hears noise out in the barn. Out to explore he finds himself with all the barn animals having a barn dance. It is really a funny and imaginative book that your child will love.

Positive Discipline Book Review

As a first time mom discipline is a very confusing thing. No matter what, I just don't now if what I am doing is right or wrong and other parents advice just never seems to fit with what I believe. With Positive discipline I have been able to better understand what discipline is and how it should be enforced. As this book mentions "true discipline guides, teaches and invites healthy behavior" (pg. 27). The discipline in this book is of the work of Alfred Adler and his colleague Rudolf Dreikers. The believe of what discipline means is usually punishment and that at an early age a child must learn that when you do something wrong there are consequences. while this believe is true, throughout the book you learn that certain actions in a baby/toddler just has to do with their age and understanding. What children really need is guidance and caring. This book explains things to you in great clarity. It helps you understand your child in a better way and makes you get at their level. It explains things in an emotional and psychological point of view, and how their growing brains develop. It goes into detail to help you better understand life situations were the outcome can be better. You read real life scenarios that fit with your everyday life, in which a lot of us can relate to.

My daughter is definitely in her terrible twos and when we go out in public I just don't know what else to do. She throws herself on the floor no matter were it is and just starts throwing a fit. I try talking to her, giving her stuff to entertain her with, and when I start to get frustrated I just end up telling her that if she doesn't stop I will spank her. Which at this point I'm just hoping she will understand and stop without me having to go through with it. With positive discipline I have been able to learn and see where my daughter is coming from and use new techniques that will lead to less frustration and a happier toddler and a happier mommy.

This book helps teach you:
  • how to use nonpunitive methods but strict and caring ones
  • how to effectively use time out
  • better understand your child's perspective at this age
  • better communicate with your child
  • how to better avoid a bad scenario
  • create a better relationship
  • how to help them create a healthy behavior
  • use new techniques with less frustration
  • and provides you with great pinpoints to remember throughout
At the end of each chapter the book provides you with some questions to ask yourself to better reflect what you have learned. I would recommend this book to any parent because it does not only help you with your child your knowledge as a parent improves for a better relationship with your child. It doesn't matter if you are a first time parent or a repeated parent you can learn something new that you just didn't realize sooner. This book is so easy to understand and a great tool every parent should have.

Drinking Green Tea

Hello Beauties,
Lets talk about green tea. I've been drinking green tea for years because initially I thought it would help me lose weight that I had gained after my first pregnancy. Although it doesn't necessarily make you lose weight it does help boost your metabolism and help burn more calories. Therefore making it easier to lose weight. Now who doesn't like something that is going to help them lose weight. which is why most people drink green tea, because lets be honest the taste is a little bitter. Apart from that, I have found that green tea also has many other health beneficiaries. Studies have shown that drinking 2-3 cups a day can help reduce or improve many health issues like:

  • helping lower high cholesterol
  • helping lower high blood pressure
  • helping improve blood flow
  • helping boost working memory
  • helping maintain blood sugar low in diabetics
  • contains powerful antioxidants
  • helps prevent coronary arty disease
  • drinking tea can also help you relax and prevent depression

My experience with green tea has been great. I drink at least two cups a day and I feel like it gives me enough energy to wake up in the mornings. Now, green tea does contain caffeine in it, so drink with caution. Since starting to drink tea my metabolism has been on track. Although I have not drastically lost weight, it has helped me maintain my weight but along with a healthy diet and exercise I have been able to get closer to my ideal weight. With a few more pounds to go I will continue to drink my daily cup or two without a doubt. Beware that if you are going to drink green tea, it might give you the need to go to the bathroom a time or two.

Remember if you are feeling a bit stressed sit down and sip on a cup of tea and read a book while at it, and just relax. Especially after a long hectic day.

*By all means I am not saying you should drink green tea. I am not a doctor or trained professional and you should always consult with your primary doctor first if taking any medication, since studies have shown that the active substances in green tea can alter with the work of prescribed medication such as, blood thinning medications or chemotherapy,. These are just my thoughts on why green tea can be beneficial to drink. For more information check under resources.

Happy Mothers Day to All!!!

How was everybody's mother day yesterday? I hope everybody had a great day, because women, you sure deserve it. We must never forget how special women are, we are the bearer of life and that is one tough job well deserved. Children become the love you never knew and to me that is the greatest reward from the toughest job. Even with days where you forget about yourself where you forgot to shave (yikes), or gone out without really doing your hair ( oh oh not again) but to see our children happy and healthy just makes all worth while, because once you are a mother you leave your needs for last to give your precious little ones their precious dreams come true. Which then leads to late nights up trying to squeeze in that little extra time to fulfill our own. So take advantage and pamper yourself with all the extra loving (and gifts) and feel great about yourself because no matter how stressed or don't know how well of a job you are doing, we are all great at what we do no matter what. What is most important is that we love. One day when they are older with children of their own they will look back and say how wonderful their mother was not because of the small details, like leaving a few dirty dishes, but the time we spent with them and what kind of person they saw in us. So go on mothers of all ages and enjoy yourself.
